OUR MISSION
MORE THAN A GAME
We’re preserving the heritage of Hong Kong style mahjong while creating a modern home for an old tradition. A place where generations and backgrounds come together, learning feels approachable, culture is celebrated and new connections happen naturally around the table.
Through our events, we bring people together, support local businesses and keep mahjong culture alive for the next generation to carry forward.
Building community, one tile and one table at a time.
Play it. Share it. Pass it on.

Meet the Cousins
One year, one month and one day apart, we’ve spent our whole lives being mistaken for sisters and sometimes even each other. We’re Devona Wu and Jessica Chen, first cousins, first generation Chinese Americans, born and raised in Miami.
Mahjong has always been more than a game to us. It’s culture, family, connection and memories made around the table. We created 888 Mahjong Social as a passion project to carry that tradition forward while giving it a fresh spin for our generation and the next.
And we built it while still doing what we’ve spent more than 20 years doing. Jessica is a full time teacher and Devona is a real estate paralegal who also runs a real estate team with her family. 888 started as something we simply loved and wanted to share, but it quickly grew into something much bigger than either of us expected.
Today, our tables bring together beginners, seasoned players, different generations and backgrounds, all sharing the same tiles, plenty of laughs and a little friendly competition. Watching this community grow has made the purpose behind what we started far greater than just a passion project.
Rooted in culture. Built on community.
Come for the vibes. Stay for the tiles.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE TILES
888 wouldn’t be what it is without the people who bring each event to life.
From welcoming new faces to keeping the games flowing, our team is here to make every player feel comfortable, confident and ready to play.
And then there are our Grandmasters, with over 60 years of mahjong experience, who surprise us with special visits, share their wisdom and remind us why passing down our culture and traditions matters so much.
